A 40-unit affordable rental project is a three-story elevator served building for senior residents over the age of 62. The site plan orientates the major public outdoor open space to the south-west to provide a sunny outdoor activity area and buffer the building from the adjacent street. The building contains a variety of community facilities including common room/dining area, on-site management offices, reception/mail area, laundry and exercise room. Additionally, the building will have a solar hot water preheating system and a photovoltaic energy generation system for the elevator and common area/site lighting.
The landscape design of the outdoor space includes garden areas for passive and active involvement by the tenants, including vegetable gardens, a bocce ball court and a more formal "rose garden". The units are buffered from the activity areas by trees and layers of planting to filter view and provide privacy.
