San Jose, CA
Initiated as a design competition, the project was developed in
coordination with the redesign of the Ohlone light rail train
station to provide retail and community buildings located near
the station and an enhanced station atmosphere. Designed as a
100% affordable family housing development, many of the 192 apartments
have individual entries with front porches and private front yards.
The project includes 4,400 S.F. retail space, a 2,500 S.F. daycare
facility, and a 4,000 S.F. community center facility with fireplace
lounge, meeting rooms, computer lab, assembly hall and management
offices. The project was funded by the San Jose Housing Development
Program, bond financing and the state and federal low-income family
tax credit programs.
